Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
About one month ago I had the surprise of my life when I received my first bonus from my boss after 5 years of service at his company. The reason for this was my hard work and increasing profits of the company. This new found income was quickly gone however when I decided a healthy week away in Mexico might be in order. Cabo San Lucas Resorts was the first place I contacted to book my holiday.
My friend had previously visited Cabo San Lucas and absolutely raved about it. My primary reason for booking a vacation was to have a week of eating cheap yet healthy foods such as seafood and fresh fruit but also to enjoy some fun in the sun by going windsurfing, snorkeling and playing a lot of tennis. It’s been over 3 years since I have had a real holiday and I am really looking forward to it. There is nothing better to make you feel fit and healthy than a week in a beach resort surrounded by good food and lots of sports.

55+ Communities
My 50th birthday is rapidly approaching next month and whilst for some people the thought of turning 50 scares the living hell out of them, I’m actually quite excited. Throughout my life I have always maintained a healthy diet and exercised. My body feels fit and my mind feels even younger. One thing that also excites me about hitting the big five oh is the fact that I am only five years away from being able to join one of the 55+ communities.
I am not sure whether you have heard of these before but they are fantastic communities of people over the age of 55 who live in either apartments, condos, townhouses or the like, kind of like a retirement village but a lot more fun. From what I have read some of these places have some really wonderful activities for staying healthy, from Yoga to Pilate’s, they even have billiard rooms for the men.
Whilst I am still totally capable of taking care of myself, they also offer emergency assistance to those people who make suffer a fall or are in need of some other kind of urgent medical assistance. Great peace of mind if you ask me. I also think my children are quite thrilled for me too. Well, probably they are probably just thrilled they won’t have to look after me when I get older!

Chocolate Healthy Room
When it comes to personal health and fitness one should always be open to trying out new things but should also be careful, especially within alternative medicine, of products or practices that are no more than quakery. Stuff like homeopathy and aromatherapy are two examples of such alternative medicine still pending scientific proof on their behalf. Although the soothing qualities of aromatherapy are rarely contested (its their curative qualites under suspicion) and if fact I am a fan of using scent as a part of ‘interior design’ in helping establish the mood of a certain room, and though oils are the materials in aromatherapy, sometimes I like to use flowers instead. And it just so happens that where I live Clare Florist are the No.1 online florist for flower delivery throughout the UK with the perfect flowers to send, whatever the occasion. Or non-occasion as it is often my case which is great because they due provide a convenient alternative to the local florist. In any case I am getting off topic. While stuff like aromatherapy probably doesn’t hold the key to medicine’s future, there are other better supported cases for alternative remedies.
We’ve been hearing about the health benefits of chocolate for some time now; articles usually found in the ‘weird news’ section of the newspaper or variety magazine. But in those cases the advocates seem to be professional researchers (not even the most audacious con artists would dare try to spin chocolate as a health benefit!). In most cases though, the news item is still not taken seriously so the reports often fail to mention details like a recommended daily intake or type of chocolate. Preferably no milk in the chocolate is recommended and its gotta be as pure as possible; 75% or greater, and about 239 calories a day. The taste of chocolate in such an unadulterated state may not be so delecatble at first but one can easly work her/his way up to 90% chocolate starting with the lower ones first.
Now I just need to get some chocolate scented oils for my next decoration project (this is a health blog, I know!) or perhaps even a cacao plant, although that may be hard to care for in this cool Glasgow weather, plus it’s more like a tree.
